Newport Polo

With the first day of September, summer is officially over for me, anyone else feels that way? In today's post, I want to share with you a perfect activity for the whole family that you can still enjoy outside. From the headline, you know that it's polo. I can't believe that I live so close to Newport and never been there before. It was on my radar this whole summer, but I believe that late August, the beginning of September is a perfect time to go, because you wouldn't melt in the sun.

I went a couple weeks ago with my girlfriends and our kids and we had a blast. We choose a picnic area, which is $15 for adult and kids are free. We brought food and drinks with us (alcohol is allowed) and had a great time. If you want to be fancy for $75 you can go to a modern luxury polo lounge, that includes hors d'oeuvres station and cocktail bar. Other options are pavilion seats and tailgate. For more info go to admission information

Matches start at 5 PM in the summer and 4 PM in September. The match is two hours long, but you can stay after and enjoy your picnic. The entry gates open at 1 PM so you can also arrive early to ensure good picnic spot.

I was channeling Julia Roberts from Pretty Woman and even though I went more casual I think I achieved the result with a cotton shirt and polka dot skirt. Even though it's an outdoor sport and you will be sitting on the blanket, I recommend to dress up. White summer dress, classic cut pants, skirt are good options. Avoid leggings and jeans.

We were allowed to enter the field between chukkers and stomp down the divots, and at the end, we received high-fives from players. I was as excited as kids.

We watched a match between Newport and New York, where New York won.

I was always intrigued by polo, but after attending this game I'm a big fan. Can't wait to go again.
